I have been a professional drummer since 1964, and I continue to play in local groups around Arizona. Out of necessity, I began doing drum repairs – repairing my own drums (sometimes while on stage, on the break) and instruments of fellow musicians in the late 60’s. I began doing extensive drum repairs, recovering, and refurbishing in 1968, and I was soon experimenting with making my own drums “from scratch.
I began my custom drum company, “TJS Maple Passion Custom Drums”, formally, in 1992. To date, my drums have been sold in local music stores and now, most recently, at Milano’s Music in Mesa, AZ. I currently build custom kits and snares as well as complete many repairs, rebuilds, and recovering of drums.
