David Libman, better known in the Tempe scene as “Creamy”, was born and raised in Mesa, AZ, and has been playing professionally since age 18. David has become a staple drummer in the Phoenix metro scene and is known for his musicality and superb intuition and listening. He has played in many bands over the years, most notably helping form and play with the blues act The Sugar Thieves which won best blues band in AZ twice in a row and was one of the top 10 unsigned blues bands in the nation.
He has shared the stages with artists such as Taj Mahal, Willie Nelson, Steve Cropper, Janiva Magness, Galactic, and many more, playing in front of thousands on large stages to small clubs. David has always been a chameleon of a musician and strives to be able to play any style of music while still having his own voice. He plays for the song, first and foremost, and views the soundscape like a painting, using different colors and always aware of the negative space to help create something beautiful. David currently plays with many artists around Tempe/Phoenix, his own band The Real Fakes, and books gigs around town as “Creamy Duo/Trio” and invites different musician friends to join onstage. He also has been passing on drum knowledge at Music Markers Workshops in Ahwatukee for the past 6 years. David currently plays TJS drums and is ecstatic to become a part of the Soultone cymbal family.
